The Northern Lights
Date: 25 Oct 2011 / Author: Marius Kristiansen
As I was going to bed last night I decided to peek out the window to see if I could get an ever so slight indication of what the weather was going to be like today, and much to my surprise the Northern Lights were dancing all across the sky.
So naturally I got dressed and went outside to take some photos.. err.. snaps. We'll call them snaps since they're not awesome.

I've been looking forward to the World Time Attack Challenge at Eastern Creek since the inaugural event last year. I loved the humility of the drivers and teams, not too busy to have a quick chat. Open garages for anyone with a admission ticket to have a peek. While some of these machines are million dollar investments, there's a great sense of it being a grassroot motorsport event.
Pulse Racing
Garage Revolution
Hankook Carbon WRX
It didn't take long for the better of the pro teams to go below last years winning time, which coincidently was already 1.7 seconds quicker than the V8 Supercars lap record. And these guys run street legal tyres, not racing slicks.
Cyber Evo
Cyber Evo took the honours once again, with a lap time of 1m28.851s.
Can't wait for 2012!
DIY Product Photography
Date: 19 May 2011 / Author: Marius Kristiansen
So I had this assignment to do some product photography for my Uni course. And since I really love DIY type stuff, and don't want to pay $700 for a professional light table I decided to make my own..
So off to Bunnings (Home Depot type shop for the US-ians) I went, and I purchased a bunch of 20mm PVC pipes, 90 bends, Tee Joints and a couple clamps. I got a 2mm thick sheet of Opal Perspex from a place called Pacific West Corporation in Wetherill Park, Sydney. So with all the goods in the boot, I went home to assemble it all.
This is what I came up with.
The Perspex is 665mm wide, 1000mm long. The pipes came 1m long, so I had to do some cutting. I also have a sheet that's 1000mm x 1750mm for any larger items, but I'll have to construct a sturdier frame for that.
Using a Metz 48 AF-1 and some foam core, this is what the end result looks like. The image on the left is straight out of camera, right is after post processing.
9 Eyes - Google Street View Exhibit
Date: 17 May 2011 / Author: Marius Kristiansen

I was browsing around the other day, as I do when I have some down time. And I came across this gem of an exhibit by Jon Rafman. It's an exhibit exclusively using photos captured by Google's Street View cars roaming around the world.
How good can that be I hear you ask.. Well quite good it would seem. Just have a look for yourself.

If you like his work, why not go to his exhibit...
